Join the S&R Team At The NIC’s Spring Conference

2022 is coming to a close and it’s time to look ahead and plan for some of the most anticipated senior living events of 2023. The National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) is one of the industry’s leading resources and will once again be hosting an annual spring conference. Taking place March 1st through 3rd in San Diego, we are excited to announce several Sherman & Roylance team members will be in attendance, including Shep Roylance, John Sherman, and Jeff Hauser. If you are planning on attending, we encourage you to reach out and set up a time to meet with one of our highly-experienced brokers.

What to Expect?

During the NIC’s Fall Conference in September, much of the discussion focused on market shifts, current economic conditions, and future predictions. Over the last year, the long-term housing market has faced uncertainty, but has transformed and is bouncing back better than ever. Following the Fall Conference, S&R co-founder Shep Roylance commented on the importance of reconnecting with old industry friends,  while focusing on “improving healthcare and providing the best services possible.”
As a reminder, the top takeaways included:
  • Transaction volume could drop next year with higher interest rates
  • Exit strategy important for sellers
  • Private buyers continue to dominate skilled nursing transactions
  • Senior housing development growing in the Southeast
  • Competition increasing as investors see opportunities for growth via acquisitions
The Spring Conference is just 2.5months away and the perfect opportunity to mingle with operators, investors, providers, and care partners to discuss the future. Since the Fall Conference took place, economic woes have plagued operators and seniors alike, and labor challenges persist. As John Sherman tells us, "the number one challenge in the years to come will be getting and retaining staff.”
However, Q3 came to a close with occupancy up and more than a glimmer of hope for what’s to come. We expect the Spring Conference to focus on economic recovery and growth, labor roadblocks, and some of the trends revolutionizing the industry, such as experiential living and active adult communities.
If you are planning on attending the NIC’s upcoming conference in March, don’t hesitate to reach out and schedule a meeting with someone from the S&R team. We look forward to helping you with all your senior housing needs, whether you are looking for a qualified buyer or in need of portfolio analysis
